Green Day Concert 2024
Last Updated: 8/7/24 | Author: TOSTRThis was the best graduation gift ever. I saw Green Day on The Saviors Tour on August 5th at Citi Field, and it was AMAZING. I've been a fan of Green Day since I was 14,
and even before that I remember hearing "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and "Wake Me Up When September Ends" in the car on the radio all the time in the 2000s. This concert was really something special. They played Dookie and American Idiot IN FULL to celebrate their 30th and 20th anniversaries. This was awesome because some of my favorite songs off those albums are deep cuts, and are played live very rarely. Hearing tracks "In The End", "Sassafrass Roots", and "Homecoming" live was really cool. And of course, hearing some tracks off the new album Saviors! My favorite song on the record has to be "Look Ma, No Brains!" with "Saviors" and "Fancy Sauce" behind that...and "Coma City" and...okay. The whole album is really good go listen to it!
I remember I was pretty bummed out that I missed them at Citi Field back in 2021 on the Hella Mega Tour. But this show MORE than made up for that. This was insane. The opening acts were great too. The Linda Lindas played, followed by Rancid, and then the Smashing Pumpkins. I only knew a handful of tracks from Rancid and the Smashing Pumpkins, but they sounded really good, and the songs I did know were great to hear live. I also decided not to bring my small CyberShot this time around, because the sensor is dirty and it's kinda falling apart. So I recorded this footage on my cell phone which is great because that means the pictures and videos are all in HD! Enjoy that. Also enjoy my poor attempt at singing in the background. I couldn't help it. I was HYPED! By the time "Homecoming" started, my voice was shot.
I got a tour shirt and a exclusive city-specific poster that's gonna get framed. Overall, this was an amazing show. Hearing American Idiot in full was really cool because I got to hear the entire story of the album live. I honestly got a little emotional at the end of "Whatsername" lolz. But they weren't done! They played "Bobby Sox" before "Good Riddance" and that song KICKS ASS! Getting home from the show wasn't actually that bad. We took the first train out of the stadium and arrived back home around 23:00. We got Taco Bell for dinner. Overall, I had an awesome time.
In The End
Look Ma, No Brains!
